Question for those of you who do resin and wood casting.

I have done some resin casting of pen blanks with mixed in scraps or exotic. I would like to try casting some blanks for small bowls/weedpots that include burl caps. Everywhere I typically deal with sells only larger burl pieces. Where is a good place to look for smaller burl cap cutoffs to experiment with?

Cheapest way to acquire burls is harvest your own.

Plenty of places sell burl wood or what passes for burls. Don't know where you have looked but here are some links. Generally vendors buy wet burls by the pound wholesale, while retail prices high you take the risk of drying. Least expensive is buying burl pen blanks and glue up to size you need.

Maybe if look at highly wood species in bottle stopper, or turning blanks might find more options and less expensive. If can buy close to home the way to go.

Been turning long time and harvest my own wood for turning and only had access to two burls. First one destroyed due to lack of knowledge or experience, other one didn't completely circle the tree posted on my project page.

Didn't list Cook's woods, might be worth a look if haven't done it already, not sure close to home for you.
