- Delta Milwaukee 6" Jointer

Super excited about the deal I got today! So what did I find this morning as I went to a few Estate sales? An awesome 6" Delta Rockwell Jointer with a 3/4 hp motor. I have been wanting a jointer, but did not have the funds to go out and buy something new. I didn't want a desktop jointer, reviews seems mixed, and I do not have room for a larger floor model. This is the perfect size for what I am doing right now.

I know it does not look that great, but I really like these old tools. I like the way they look and the fact that they are so solidly built. Made in America. I know some might say I would be better off with something new, but I really enjoy cleaning up and restoring these old tools. A little sanding, sandblasting, painting and powder coating with my DIY powder coating system from Eastwood and it will be looking great. It's going to be fun.

And the best thing is that it works and all of the parts seem to be here! I have already run a few boards through it. The only thing I really need to do to use it is replace the belt and remove the surface rust from the bed and the fence.

Anybody know what vintage this is? I do not see a model number anywhere.

From the parts diagram here:
http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/delta-37-207-6-quot-jointer-old-style.html

The part number is:
930-05-991-3515
and unfortunately is obsolete, and unavailable from the suppliers.

There may be some people on OWWM that may have an extra that they would sell to you, or someone might be parting out a jointer on Ebay, and since these Crank handles were used for many years on several models, it is a matter of lining up the size of the crank and the size of the hole for the shaft.
What about these?

Nice find. It gets addicting. I've been working on lathes myself, a 20's Goodell Pratt, a 58 Craftsman, and a 74 Rockwell. But today I was looking at an old Craftsman jointer, made by King Seeley. I'm on the fence about it.

A good day.

Here are my finds for last week:
2 - Irwin screwdrivers
3 - Stanley No. 60 chisels
Vaughan ball pein hammer
Vaughan soft face hammer
Wilton 4" vise
And the coolest thing was the putty knife/spatula made by the Ontario Knife Company. It is very well made with a dovetailed walnut handle. I really like the old wood handled tools. They are fun to restore and make them look like new. And they work well.

I got a great deal and everything you see was Made in America.

Great score! Wish I could find some decent garage/estate sales near me (northern CA). When there are estate sales they are organized with sign-up sheets at the door. Some people get there hours early to be first in. I don't have the patience.

Love those #60s, and the perfect handle (Irwin) screwdivers. Good tools!

Why I go...

OK, this is why I go to Estate sales. You never know what you will find or what kind of deal you might be able to negotiate. Today was definitely worth my time. I found this Bessy KBK2440 clamp set, brand new, in the box for $30.00! Retail these would probably be close to $200.00.

Jeff,
Don't you feel the least bit guilty? I know that I would feel better if you returned and made a $170 donation.
Or you could make a material donation to a deserving cause. Contact me via PM and I will supply you with my shipping address.

Was this tongue-in-cheek? I can't make up my mind.

Jeff, I applaud your great deal! If you want someone to celebrate with you, I would do so for the price of one of those clamps. :)

Stanley hand drill and a few other items

Picked these items up at an Estate sale for $3 total. A Stanley No. 60 chisel, Buck Brothers gouge, Apex sawset and a Stanley No. HI220 hand drill. Not sure if I will ever use the sawset, but now I have one.
Image

I did a little restoration on the hand drill. Now it works perfectly smooth and looks like new.

Thank you. They are not to difficult to restore. A wire wheel on the grinder, a buffing wheel and a little paint.
