My uncle gave me this plane. He couldn't tell me much about it. It was in rough shape. I restored it and it works very good. I trying to figure out what kind of plane it is. It has a Stanley cap and blade, but the blade is only 6". This makes me wonder if the cap and blade doesn't belong with the plane. I have other Stanley plane but are far better quality. This plane is 14" long making me think it is a #5. It doesn't have a frog adjusting. Like I said the plane works very very good it just puzzles me. Could someone please identify?

It is a Stanley, a very recent model, like last 20 years or so. The 0559B shown in the one pic is the model #, so definitely marks it as Stanley, and all the other clues (logo, iron style, lever cap, ribs on the body, etc) are consistent with that model and years, as well.

The more recent planes, such as that one, are not as good in quality as the earlier ones, as you have already noted, but can make decent users. It'll never be a collector's item, but if it's working well for you, keep using it.

Thank you very much guys! kaerlighedsbamsen thanks for the link. JayT thank you so much. I have the older Stanleys and I restore them all but I needed a #5. I'mhappy with the perfomance of this one and I don't buy them to sell. I buy them to use. Thank you so much friend.
