I use this tool on most projects. I wanted to use a piece of walnut that had had a bow in it. This piece is 24" long x 8" wide x 1 and 3/4" thick. Too wide for my jointer.
I had been haunting craigslist for some time, looking for Corian. A few weeks back I hit the jackpot. A sign shop was selling off some inventory. I picked up 2 full sheets of white Corian, each 30" x 72" x 1/2" thick.
I cut a piece @ 18" x 30", and a strip 1" x 30" that I used as a fence. I drilled and tapped the Corian, this stuff is easy to work, but it does stink when cutting on the tablesaw.
This is the piece of walnut on the Corian, checking to see how bad the bow is. A door shim keeps it in place.

This is after a few trips through the sander. I take very little off at a time. I did have to assist a little getting it started going through. The bottom side is almost as smooth as the top, the sled would scoot sideways or stall. It was ok once it got about 1/3 of the way through.

I used a roller stand on the outfeed. Corian is heavy.

I just kept repeating until that side had all been sanded, I didn't need the sled for the other side.

I took a little off the sides on the tablesaw, and I had it S4S without using a jointer or planer.
