I am looking at purchasing a laser engraver with a rotary device so that I can engrave plaques, pens and such. Most models are from China, American models and can be very expensive. I am nearing retirement in a few years and would like to add this ability to my woodworking plans. Any suggestions? I also could consider a duel purpose unit that can cnc engrave and such. Can't spend a fortune but want something that will last and work well. Thanks for your impute.

1. No water cooled models (old technology keeps them cheap.)
2. Buy a Chinese one… you can replace is every year or two (try to get it serviced)
3. Pay heavy and get customer support (you'll need it)....
I've owned and operated 6 CO2 lasers for almost 20 years…. still got the originals… they work every day….

Have you decided on a size? They have mini combo machines on eBay but you will need to make sure it comes with the laser and spindle.
This is probably the most important question. If you're looking for something relatively small and only want to do engraving (as opposed to laser cutting) there is a pretty good thread already on here discussing some options from China.
