I've looked at it numerous times, but never acquired one. I would like to think it would help with dust collection at the blade. I'll follow along to see what reviews come in.

I've read some reviews on it and they're sorta mixed about it. I'm also interested in the blade guard but some of the reviews said it was difficult to rip anything under 3 inches with it.

bruc101,

My table saw is not equipped with an above the table dust collection hood, but I have considered one. My attention was drawn away from Penn State's and a few other brands to the Sharp Guard. It looks like a better and safer design. A LJ posted a review of the Shark Guard with a link to the Shark Guard web site. On the web site, an animated video does a good job of demonstrating the features of this blade guard with integrated dust collection hood.

I have it (well, home made using the same guard) and it is difficult to cut smaller items due to the fence getting so close to the guard that you can't put the piece through. It's fantastic for larger pieces and significantly reduces dust at the TS. I love it for that.

Thanks guys for your input. I do a lot of 1.5 to 2 inch widths and it seems the Penn State won't handle that without some difficulty.

I checked out the Shark Guard site but found no pricing on it. I want to put a guard and collection port on a Griz 1023 I purchased in about 2005. Anyone know the cost of the Shark Guard?

Thanks again
Bruce

Thanks Rayne. I have no idea why I couldn't scroll down that far last night. I'm on a different machine this morning but I am going to try the other one again when I get a chance today if I go to the office.

Part of your decision should be whether or not you want the guard attached to a splitter. Having it attached to the splitter may prevent its use on some cuts, where a suspended guard can work with just about any cut, and you can just leave a riving knife in the tale all the time
