Need a little help

I'm trying to post my first ever project using photos in Google Photos. Most of them are on my phone and I'm posting from the computer so I believe I first have to download them before I can upload them to Lumberjocks but they are not in the correct order. So as I tried to place them in the right order, one at a time, the previous ones disappear.

When I try to preview the content the photos don't show up so I can't see what's happening to them. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

I see that most postings have the photos in the top right corner while a few are in the text area. Should I be adding them into the text in the right order or does it even matter?

Thank you ahead of time to anyone who can help.

Upload them in the order you want them to appear in the main project window (where the thumbnails in the upper right corner are enlarged). If you want to add more pictures in addition to those, insert them into your text.

I think you are limited to 6 (six) images on each project you post. That said, you can always add more images in the "reply" section, as the need comes up. I do suggest, however, that you limit the size of your JPEG images, since the maximum size is much lower than many of our cell-phone camera's. Perfect chance to crop/center/PS etc… before uploading.

If the pic is on your harddrive, just upload it straight to the site.

Gotta know where it is, and what it's called. Simple is put them temporarily on your desktop, and call them 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 , and so on.

Just above the pane where you are typing look for img it's a brownish colored radio button. click it.

Then click browse

Navigate to desktop, and pick out your 1, and click it.

After it fills in the file info, click insert this image.

Rinse and repeat for as many as you need to insert. No hosting, no issues, simple as it can be.

Mike I'm thinking they have added some form of auto-cropping software. I've tried maxing it out a few times, and what appears HUGE on my computer gets shrunk down to the normal size of picture you see here. The one I posted above is still RAW from my Canon, which has huge file sizes.

I think you are right. It's a bummer sometimes when trying to show detail.

FWIW:
Forum software has image convertor program behind the 'img' upload button

: It does have a hard limit on size of file it can convert and number of pixels in the image. Not sure exact size but; pics from my 10 yr old phone will upload directly and pics from my 5 yr old one won't in native huge format, unless I crop at least 5% off one side?

: There are two different picture size limits in forum posts.
- The 6 images in upper right hand corner of project will be saved with maximum ~1000 pixels wide. Actual image is saved relative to size of of original. Hence an original 5000×3000 pix image will be reduced 1000×700.
- Photos posted inline with text are limited to ~500 pixels wide and ~800 pixels tall. The are also reduced relative to original size.

Where you post images is considered creative license?
I prefer to load 6 project photos with photos I want displayed largest, so folks can see more detail?

I always edit my photos being a privacy phreak. Have to crop out; body parts, license plates, addresses, and remove all picture meta data that can include my phone information and GPS location of taken image if you are silly enough to have it turned on. Cropping and privacy editing more than 1 photo on my phone drives me nuts as picture manipulation tools stink. Plus native phone apps insist you have metadata, and will re-add things like your name/phone ID after editing. I always switch to PC for posting projects, so I can sanitize my uploaded image data. YMMV

PS - Most phones today sync picture data between phone and cloud. Rarely need to email photos to yourself. Just save the pictures in a folder with cloud/drive sync turned on. Then PC can simply open the cloud/drive folder to access the photos. SWMBO uses apple, and I use Android; both have the this feature. The only annoying part is when you are not connected to WIFI during picture taking and have to wait for sync to happen on next WIFI connection cycle.

Hope this helps. :)

I see photos in both the upper right and inside the text area. I'd like to be able to do both but when I select preview I cannot seen where the pictures have gone.
The other thing is this site ALWAYS has super small text. Is there a way to make it easier to read without always having to adjust the size of the page?

Preview button only previews the text, not entire post.
Don't worry the pictures are still there.

Also, you can edit a project post anytime. Even months/years after the initial posting. Projects and shops don't have same 60 min editing limitation as forum posts. :)

Cheers!

From your description, it sounds like maybe you didn't actually upload them? Uploading is a 2 step process. You first browse your computer to Choose a picture. After selecting one, you then have to click the Upload this Picture button which adds a thumbnail of the picture in a row right above the Choose File step. I don't know how many times I have forgotten to click the upload button.

pictures posted in text will look like this:
with random picture names, and instead of quote marks, will have exclamation marks (!) on each end.

Can actually link images from other sites or web locations same way:

These two look happy. :)

I post ad images from companies sale ads on web in the Hot Deals thread all time.

Cheers!
