I am predominately a Chrome user with no ad blocker and no issues.

This problem is related to the ads. I use Firefox with Adblock Plus and there is no problem. I disabled ad blocking and saw the problem. For instance, the Projects page showed six ads. I had to hit backspace or backarrow seven (= 6+1) times to get it to work. The first six times, the ads refreshed one after another. After all six had refreshed, backspace and backarrow worked as expected.

I don't know if Chrome has the ability to use the light beam add-on, but in Firefox you can install it and it will show you how many third party users, (read that as ads), are forcing the page to refresh, each refresh will be a new back click.
In case you need to, you can delete all the entries and refresh the page you are on, if it's a LJ page it will show you how many are happening in real time.

I had the same problem in iexplorer. It went away after I installed tracking protection in tools- manage add-ons - tracking protection - "stop google tracking". You can get it from this site: http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/browser/p3p/

yep I hav started getting this for the past week on Firefox at work, and IE at home.

Often I can back up a page with a triple click. but what a pain

I am wondering if Java has been updated on your computers. About a week ago I had to update mine because I was having some intermittent issues on another site and it turned out I needed to update Java on my PC.

This is what I see:

• Using Firefox, the problem only happens when I do not block the ads.
• The problem does happen in regular forum discussions such as this one.
• Using Chrome, the problem never happens.

I just installed Adblock Plus for Firefox about an hour ago, and so far I have gone back to normal performance on LJ.

I have been having this problem for some time now. To work around it I just right click on the blue subject line and click on "Open Link In New Tab". Sure is faster.

Never had this problem, and have never had a "Page not found" pop up happen to me. I don't see any ads on here of any kind and I DON'T run an Ad Blocker.

Running IE 10 & Windows 7 Home Premium. The ones everyone loves to Hate.

Cricket is also correct about Updating Java. If you don't have an Auto Update for Java on your system go directly to their site to Update if necessary. They will confirm what Version you now have and offer a Download if necessary. DO NOT Update from a Pop Up on any other Site. That's usually an invitation for a Virus.
