Not that knowledgeable about all the offerings out there, but I use Sketchup with the cut list add in and have been pleased with the results (free). There may well be better software available. If doing a lot of repetitive work (production) it's worth the time and effort to carefully select, but for hobby work not really. I only do hobby work.

 

When I was on Windows i use Cutlist a lot and really like it. I switched to a Mac and cutlist isn't written for it.

Both of you mentioned "Cut list" but you might be talking about different things. The first sounds like a plug-in for Google sketchup. For the second, I see both that there is a free program and a commercial one.

There are a thousand cutting programs out there, some of them quite expensive even though the interface looks rudimentary. It makes me wonder if some of those may have an algorithm that's vastly superior, or some useful features. A confusing niche as I'm not finding any reviews.

Just so you understand where I was coming from, no matter how long I browse on the CutList site I don't get an url with that huge trailing suffix (the urls are all short). And "clid" sounds like "client id", which could mean "associate id". So that made me ask: it's useful to know whether the person who provides information is fully impartial. It was not an attack, just a question (a request for information).

Actually I am very partial because it a (IMO) it's one of the best programs out there. The reason I recommend the the 249.00 version is because I love the ability to move and rotate parts on a sheet or drag parts from one sheet to another with a mouse.

Not that I know of. I don't see where they list a MAC download. Email support and ask.
