I recently purchased a used Craftsman Radial Arms saw. This is a new tool for me in great condition, but I am not 100% familiar with it. The guy I bought it from fired it up when I picked up and everything was working fine. Once I got it home, I can't get the carriage to move. It is locked in position to the rear. I have turned the carriage locking knob to release the carriage but its firmly stuck in its position. Not sure what I am missing, any help would be appreciated!

Were you able to pull the carriage forward when you picked it up and "everything was working fine"?

What model do you have. There are many.

This model is not covered under the recall.
LOL - my mistake... the recall is for models made by Emerson (prefix 113, not 315)! whoops. I've taken advantage of the recall twice now... once to get the new table and upgraded guard for my older saw, and got $100 when I sent in the motor for another one that I picked up from CL for $65 (motor was shot!).

Once you turn the carriage lock to unlock it, it should move... however, your machine has one of those weird "control cut" things that limits carriage speed and provides an automatic carriage return, so it may be something with that. It has a separate motor and thumb control on the handle. Got no experience with that setup, so can't offer much help otherwise. Might want to consult the manual to see if it say anything about it.

BTW: For some weird reason, when your model number is punched into the Craftsman radial arm saw recall site, it says that is an invalid model number... weird.

This model is not covered under the recall. The recall was about the blade guard not fully covering the blade. When I looked online, the photos of this saw have a redesigned full blade guard, not the half guard of the recalled saws.
