I am extremely new into woodworking and I bought my first jointer/planer (Craftsman #11320680) on Craigslist the other day. The guy who sold it to me turned it on at his place and I also turned it on when I got it home. The next morning, and since then, it won't start. I have checked the switch connections, changed the capacitor and cleaned out the motor (which to my understanding is not seized since I can spin it with my hand, but I could be wrong about that). The motor doesn't make any sound at all and if I turn the switch enough times quickly, it will trip the outlet in my garage.
Does anyone have any insight into what could possibly be wrong with it, what I may be overlooking?
I also only paid $100 and it is an older machine (1987) so I need to know if it would be worth it to dig deeper into this problem or if I should count my loss and try again with another machine.
