Bartley Gel Stains -- acceptable replacement?

I recently read an article named Mission Oak Finish by Jeff Jewitt on The Wood Whisperer site. I want to try the colors labeled as samples 4 and 5 in the article, and they call for Bartley Gel Stain, walnut color.

I searched around on the Web but could not find anyplace selling this particular stain. Today I found an article on the Popular Woodworking site that states the company that produced the stain for Bartley declared bankruptcy and has ceased production.

Does anyone have suggestions for suitable replacements that I can use in the recipes from the Jewitt article?

Thanks!

I, too, wanted to try the Mission Oak Finish suggested by Jeff Jewitt and looked for Bartley gel stains. Came up with the same problem you are having. I settled for MinWax Walnut Gel Stain and it has worked pretty well. Still in finishing or I would post a picture for you but I think it looks very similar to the image on the article you read that used the Reddish Brown Transtint due.

A few minutes ago I looked more closely at the "Bartley Buzz" July newsletter I received recently, and this caught my eye:

Update on Bartley Finishing Products

We are sorry to tell you that we are still waiting on our 2nd shipment of the Bartley Stain & Varnish from Seagrave Coatings. They have assured us they are working on suppling us and hope to ship it soon. We apologize for the continued delay.

So, maybe there still is hope that I will be able to find it someday soon!
