My lady wants me to make an arched top armoire like the one in the picture. I’ve seen several approaches to this including cutting the relief kerfs across to bend plywood; using bendy board which is a little pricey and hard to find, laminating a bunch of resawn 1/8” boards around a form, or...
I accidentally spilled a large mug of coffee with heavy cream on a piece of unfinished walnut veneered plywood that I plan to use in a desk build.
I had plans to finish the piece with either tung oil or Minwax satin polyurethane.
What do I need to do (if anything) to clean up/mitigate the...
I want to refinish this neglected table but I have never refinished a marquetry top like this. I worry that sanding will smudge dark into light wood. I don't know if the dark wavy discoloration in the central area of the top is fixable or not. Sand? Scraper?
Thanks.
My loving wife recently asked me to maker a detachable top for her ironing board. She is a quilter so she is often ironing large pieces of fabric. She want the top to be few inches wider and more rectangular than the current ironing board. I would appreciate any advise the group can provide...
Need to tap into the collective wisdom of the seasoned refinishers out there. IS THIS SALVAGABLE?

My first posting here at Lumberjocks, don't beat me up too bad (Smile)
My buddy passed away suddenly after a prolonged illness. I asked his wife if she wanted an urn and she was very happy to accept. It made me very happy to make her a little less sad. She loved it. His favorite things were the...
Using old rollerhockey wheels and bearings, made a toy car for a grandson. A piece of scrap spanish cedar, dyed green, then coats of lacquer for finish. 5/16" carrage bolts, spacers, and a couple of lock nuts and this is ready to roll!
My sister has the largest flower garden in Fairbury, Illinois. She is always buying new yard ornaments, but they typically only last a couple of years before the weather does them in.
Then she brings them to me to make new ornaments using pressure-treated wood, so they will last about 10...
Hello All - Occasionally I take pictures of unfinished wood with alcohol applied to mimic a finished look. Typically for someone off-site.,
It works OK but I live in a desert climate so there's a 20 second window to get the picture before evaporation sets in. ⏳

All: I am planning on building a small bench -- 16" wide -- with a piece of ambrosia maple for the seat. The wood seems to be pretty solid, with just a few voids and streaks for interest.
I am wondering how to finish the material so that it will hold up to occasional use as a place for one to...
I’m installing some 8’ sapale mahogany doors with a glass center. I want to use Rubio wood cream which is for exclusively exterior surfaces. I like the tactile/matte feel of the wood cream but am wondering if something like TotalBoat Gleam Marine Spar Varnish would be more robust ? The drawback...

Hello all, it's been awhile since I posted a project because of my broken hand and then playing catch up to get some projects done. This one took AWHILE to finish because it was 341 pieces and a lot of them where very small. I spent a lot of time down on my hands and knees looking for a piece...
Old Round Table Restoration
I was given the task to restore and paint an old round table and put a mirror on the top.
1. First I remove all the brass hardware - fix all broken and misaligned parts and sand the table to remove the old varnish
2. I cover the newly exposed wood with two coats of...
