I just purchased an 80's era Makita 2030N for a restoration project. I plan to re-paint portions of it. I've read quite a bit on LJ about paint and rust removal, and this was very helpful. Now I'm trying to figure out where I might obtain some factory-correct Makita gold or the paint composition to provide to a mixer. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm also curious to know if I need to completely remove exisiting paint or simply get down to a fairly stable surface before repainting. I anticipate a standard paint shop should help on this front. Here is a shot of one surface of the tool to give you an idea of what I'm shooting for regarding color (the front cover is already removed, which shows some better examples of the original color). I'm spending some time to clean up this tool and I'd like to use the proper paint scheme if possible.
