Hello!

I am wanting to make some wooden piggy banks for my boys - 3, 6, and 9 years old.

My initial thought was just to take some 2" thick material and cut out shapes of animals - rabbit, turtle, etc and then cut out the interior and sandwich it between some acrylic.

So they can drop money in the slot and see it go inside - and see it from either side of the bank.

I'll try to remember to take pictures so I can post something up - but does anybody have any other ideas of creative ways to make a piggy bank out of wood?

My grandpa made a bunch of those types of banks. He screwed the plexi glass to each side of the banks. I still have them and they re probably 35 yrs old now.

Yeah that was my plan - to just screw the plexi to the sides. Debating if I want to put the screw holes just outside the edges of the plexi to hold it by the edge - or drill through and secure it that way.

Either way if not careful I think the plexi will crack.
