What is a good finish for Bookmarks? Odies' ok?

HI All. I have a large order for wood bookmarks.
In the past I have not put a finish on my bookmarks but have having done a large order for coasters and using Odie's, the bookmarks look like they need a finish.

I like the finished look Odie's produces, but wonder if a wax or oil might would leave residue on book pages.

I would not use Odie's for a bookmark, or any kind of an oil finish. It will stain the pages if left in the book. I would either leave the piece natural or use a hard film finish, ie poly or lacquer.

Yeah, probably any FILM finish will do: polyurethane, lacquer, or waterborne. I guess shellac would also work.

Wood species may help you select a specific finish.

FWIW, I made a few bookmarks a few years ago, using veneer. I use a spray lacquer, buffed lightly afterwards, and they still look great.
