I would love to hear your ideas on things we can do to improve LumberJocks.com for you.

What things do you love?

What things are you not so crazy about?

Are there features you would love to see added or fine-tuned?

Cricket - I'm putting my web developer hat on and realized that Iwud and Tedster's request can be solved by a "sort by date ascending or descending" option, and a user preference to default it maybe?. If it's date ascending, then the page numbers would in theory never change. I know exactly how I would (as a developer) build that feature, but I leave it to the dev team to figure it out. PM me if you have any questions.

Just though of another one I would like, maybe it's buried elsewhere in this thread and I didn't see it but I like to see links open in a new window (or at least have the option when you make the link).

FRED You can always right click and choose to open it in another window…..or at least I can on my desktop. Not sure if there is that ability with a smart phone or tablet (I don't know what you use to view the interwebz on)

I hate project posts that are a single image of something or another….
& the craftsman/artist/woodbutcher only types a one sentence blurb….
Like: "I made this yesterday."

I would like to see required questions, or "radio button" tags if you will….

Item/object: Box, table, toy, furniture, jig, keepsake, art piece…. (categories could be further refined)

Primary wood(s):

Secondary/Accent wood(s):

Finish(es):

Tools/Machines used: lathe, scroll saw, bandsaw, power tools, hand tools, power carver, chainsaw…..

Reason for build:
Commissioned
For sale
Gift
Personal use
Skill builder/Personal challenge
Charitable donation

This could help people search for projects based upon tools, woods, and type of project.

Randy, that would show the titles of all the off topic topics. What I'm suggesting is the option to show the titles of those we wish to see but still hiding the titles of the rest.

Cricket, tell the powers that be to get rid of these annoyances ….

Don't know if it was mentioned previously or not, but I think a location type section by state or something. Where people could possibly get to talk to local people and could let each other know about deals locally, or be able to go and help someone out if they have a particular problem, stuff like that would be nice.

Ummm, when did the AdWords links crossover to be seen by logged in users? It was one thing when those were there for all the lurkers without accounts, but they are now being seen when I am logged in. That is both annoying and concerning. I 100% agree with Richforever above (reply #192) about the appearance of me endorsing a product or someone thinking I am linking to it.

Like many other LJ's, I frequently include hyperlinks to other LJ posts or on topic products or blogs. Having the AdWords crap links competing in those posts is confusing and not a pleasant browsing experience. Please reconsider this misguided decision.

I didn't know what JayT and others were talking about until I just noticed it happen on more than one of my post .

This is totally unacceptable ,I refuse to be a unpaid sponsor for products I have no connection with,I don't believe I've every threatened to leave LJs before but this would be and issue that would make me consider it.

I think it would be great to have an at a glance indication of who posted last in a thread.

If I've posted in a thread and I want to come back to it later, it'd be helpful to know whether or not anyone else posted in it since I did.

Here's an edited screenshot as a quick mock-up to clarify.
