I would love to hear your ideas on things we can do to improve LumberJocks.com for you.

What things do you love?

What things are you not so crazy about?

Are there features you would love to see added or fine-tuned?

as to a like button, i totally agree with what A1jim has said, when it comes to woodwork, we are here to actually say things about a project, the good things about it and also the things we see that might enhance it, were not here to tell people to change their work, were here to encourage, to be able to make suggestions as to maybe a different way, we all need dialog, words…not a thumbs up..i would like to suggest that we all learn to make comment that help , that uplift and help us become a better woodworker, a comment that says "LOOKS NICE " is not a proper comment as to someones woodwork, when someone has spent hours of their time to create..its been a part of them expressing a part of themselves, they deserve more than a thumbs up or just a two word comment, we should respect them and their work more than that.

I'd like to get rid of the "off topic content. Click to see post" thing in the topics list. Just show the post like all the others.

This was going to be my suggestion as well. I don't understand why "off topic" threads need to be hidden this way. There are plenty of threads I read the title of and ignore as I am not interested, why can't I also ignore off topic threads on the main page, instead of having to click on the thread to see what it is all about, even if "off topic"

I guess that's what it's all about Iwud4u we all get along whether we agree or not . I'm guessing you have never blocked anyone so I guess it might be hard for you to tell what happens when you block folks. Days gone by the"administration" could take as long as a week to get back to you if at all, and many times they thought being PMed 20 times a day was no big deal. Now that management is more proactive I think there's a good chance they would take action before I have to.Blocking someone does not mean you hate them it just means you don't approve of their behavior in some way. I know there are those that think blocking someone is paramount to capital offence but it's just a blocking of communication. I've been blocked by some folks and don't know why ,but it's no big deal.

My only thought on the Like issue is rather than 'liking' the project, forum post, or whatever, the ability to like an individual comment or answer that someone makes about the item. so rather than doing a +1 to whomever, just like the comment.

On most forum I visit I have it set to show the new post since my last visit each time I bring up the forum. That is nice and I also like to be able to "mark all forum read" option most have. That way I can mark even item I am not interested in as read, and unless there is new posts on it the posts will not show the next time I visit. Be nice to have the option to go to the most recent post in a thread when you come here. Don't have to scroll through all the posts that have already been read.

Thank for asking.

Thanks for asking/caring.

-The ability to search/tag/organize my ever-growing favorites archive.
-Better search functionality in the "search box": Boolean + -, or "google-ish" logic.
-The ability to "unwatch" topics from within the watch list (check boxes or clicking the "eye" maybe)
-Disabling CAPLOCK, boldfont, and the dreaded CAPLOCK BOLDFONT (ok, just kidding about this one)

summerfi and copcarcollector - If you want to see the "off topic" titles, go to your pulse page and click on "show off topic titles". This will allow you to see the titles as long as you are logged in.

As far as improvements or new features, I would also like to see a way to organize my favorites and a better search function. And please, no "like" buttons. I get enough of that on Facebook and other sites.

LJ really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really
needs a mobile friendly version of the site.

I went on vacation and tried to read LJ during downtime, first time I visit the site I can't even log in because a gigantic advertisement is blocking the entire page. I had to futz around until I could get to another page and log in but then it's impossible to read without a microscope or enlarging the text and scrolling like mad.

Being a new member I think the LIKE button would be a great feature, showing appreciation for a Project, Forum post, Blog entry or a Comment, "Same as Google+", without having to type a comment and fill up a post.

Better Search options would be good

Android app Fantastic.

Thanks Stevie

I would like to see some form of Wiki structure where we can document our woodworking knowledge. There is so much knowledge in the thread that would be much more useful if we could add it to a structure (like a wiki) where it could be found.

I would like to be able to click on an image in a project and go to the enlarged image, without having to step through the other images. It seems this is the way it works in workshops and some other sections, but not in the projects.

I would like the like and dislike button. I don't feel that viewing a project constitutes it as another +1 for the the daily top 3, there are many projects I view that are so bad but you can't see that until you click on it. So why do they get a +1 to the daily top 3.

I would like to see SEND A PM on projects and pick up the title as subject … ie RE: {SUBJECT} rather than having to goto the users home, then send a message and type a subject. Obviously you could change the subject, but usually we are replying to a post or project.
