Cricket, I understand that a lot of the suggestions in this thread can't get done. However, it would be nice to know which ones are done and/or which ones are being worked on. Don't ask the question unless you folks are serious about implementing some of them. You said you'd have a look at the thread once you returned. Let's use this thread to keep us up to date on your programming efforts for your members. It's been a year and a half since you asked the question.

This may have been mentioned but I'm not reading through the entire thread to find out But, I'd REALLY like to be able to sort threads in reverse order (newest post first).

 

I would like that When you get a email from LJ, and it has a link,you click on the link,It takes you to the comment,but right now it takes you to the first post,instead of the comment that was posted.not a big deal on two page posts,but ones like saws,workbenches,planes have alot of pages.
I would also like if we could click a photo and it would enlarge.Some of us older folks have a hard time seeing what is in the thumbnail size photos.

Daddy, if you're signed in it should take you to the most recent page thing you've seen - that's how it works for me anyways, and to me that makes good sense. I only takes me to the first page if I am not logged in.

If someone sends you a link "to their comment" it will work

For the photos, as far as I've been able to tell, the resolution is whatever the poster uploads it at. Unfortunately if someone posts a 200 X 200 photo, that's as big as it's going to get.

 

I need to keep bumping this up so Cricket addresses it when she returns. That brings up a good point…how do we know when she returns? Here's another good point. How do we even know she's gone? In fact, is she even a real person? What do you guys think? Is Cricket real?

 

I know she works on a number of different forums, not sure how many. Kinda ridiculous, I've never seen a forum this large without moderators to help the admin. Especially an admin with other forums to take care of.

Here's the improvement we need on this site. We need continual feedback on the work being done to enhance and improve the site. To take Cricket and the programming staff seriously when they ask for suggestions, the suggestions must be followed up on and when completed we need to be told. If something can't be done then tell us so. Don't leave us in the dark.
This is our site as much as yours. Without us you have nothing. It would pay to keep us happy and up to date. Just let us know if you're serious about improving the site or if your only objective is to suck advertising dollars for as long as possible and keep costs down. Either way we will know where you're coming from and appropriate expectations will be established.

A mobile app would be great

Jim, when you say mobile app what do you mean? I have a Samsung Note 3 and the site is formatted for my screen perfectly. It is really useful in portrait mode…not so much in landscape. In landscape everything is too small.

 

Jim, as you can see from the above screenshot lumberjocks.com/forums is mobile friendly.

 

I am not ignoring this thread but it was started back in the spring of 2014 under the old ownership. The new company is looking at ways to convert this site to another program that would make it easier to add the kind of features that you are requesting but that takes time on this big of a site.

For those of you who have been here from when I first joined the site, you know that we have made many fixes during that time. When I first joined the front page was very broken with many of the functions, such as the top 3 not working and most recently they worked on making the site as mobile friendly as possible with the current program. The new company also made some ad changes for those of us who are logged in to make the site faster and cleaner for us.
