For the past week at least, I've been unable to navigate to my messages.
https://www.lumberjocks.com/messages

Application Error Occurred

Oops! Application error occurred while processing this page. Email has been sent to us with the error report. We will try to resolve it as soon as possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
If I get an e-mail that I've received a new message, I can click the link (https://www.lumberjocks.com/messages/{ID}) that will work, and I can reply. I just can't get to the "inbox" to read messages, or reference an old one…

Is this something that others have experienced as well? I've tried with out adblockers enabled, and it's the same thing. (Also, holy crap do they load up on the obnoxious ads here)

This happens with Firefox and Chrome.

Can you navigate to your sent messages? https://www.lumberjocks.com/messages/sent

- HokieKen
Yes, sent messages works, and once I'm on sent messages I can get to compose as well, but the received messages still does not.

lol palas, I actually send and receive a much larger amount of PMs than I get spam. Besides, those a-holes never respond when I ask if I can get 20,000 instead :-( For the price they charge, you'd think you could at least get 20,000…

I think Dave might be on to something, it started happening shortly after one of the last rounds of spam, but don't think I ever got to it to delete it. (and his PM didn't fix it, for the record. I've gotten and responded to probably 6 or 7 PMs since this started happening)
The GET call when trying to go to messages returns a 500 internal server error, so I'm guessing someone's missing some null checks somewhere :)

Holy crap, IE actually worked!

Words never before uttered.

I have actually had a few, very rare, occasions where we've had code issues where IE was the only place something worked lol

Yeah Smitty, it's not ideal, but I guess as long as I keep all the e-mails I have a work around…

Bumping for @Cricket to see at the top of the list again. There is at least one other person who has mentioned this problem, and it is still an issue for me.

Cricket - this is for you
Okay, I am confused, you said you can t reply to private messages, correct?
Then how are you replying to me?

The ONLY way I can send or respond to a message is to go the the senders home page and click on send message and it gose to the message board, I type, click send massage and it goes. However, I cannot access my messages, if I try, I get the above error message.

Thanks for the update.
what does "waiting for it to clear out of the system" mean, exactly?

Do I just have to get enough PMs to force it off the first page of the inbox?
Do old messages eventually just go away once they're old enough?
I have had the issue for over 2-1/2 months, on at least 4 different devices, with 4 different browsers tested, and even using a new private window with no cache history, so I'm fairly confident in saying it's not a local caching issue on our end.

For the record, the magic answer is "50". You need to get 50 PMs in order to bump a bad message off the first page in your inbox.

So now I can load my inbox again, just not page 2. Confirming that the issue is almost certainly just bad null checking in the code that gets the messages. Bummer they can't fix it, but I guess if you have a similar issue, just have someone send you 50 messages and you can at least get back to seeing your first page of inbox :)
