I have a design question. I received an order for a book case and a case to display trophy's. The trophy case needs to be wall mounted and I am at a loss. There are five trophy's measuring 16, 14, 11, 6, and 6 inches tall. All are 3.5 inches deep at the base. 7,5,3,3,and 3 wide at the base. I thought of a box design but this would be quite wide. I even suggested let me "fancy up" the book case top to hold the trophy's but she said no. wants them wall mounted to put pictures of her daughters around them. If you have any tips it would be appreciated. I'll respond to any this evening as I also have an appointment with a lawn mower today.

You may consider using a French Cleat to hang the trophy case since the minimum width would be at least 18".
That way you could fasten both ends of the cleat to the wall studs provided they are on 16" center.

French cleat would work well. I thought of using the slide and hide system since I have a bit for that. It's the shape I am fighting. Between the wood and the trophy's it's going to be wide and hea-vy for a wall mount. I may ask if she would be happy with a set of three shelves. all matching.

Thought: tallest one in middle separated by 1/2 stock. stair step the height down for the next two on either side, again stair step the sides for the short 2. What do you think?

Lee, the ceder is a good idea, light and it looks great! Woodust, I guess I better plan for 16 inch spacing, any style I do. I'm thinking the stair step idea is solid, maybe some angles for a "house" look. ??

Jeff, what about putting the 11" trophy in the middle with the two bigger trophies on each side and the 6"-ers one above and one below? A tall central box divided into three sections, flanked by a box on each side. I'm probably not explaining myself very well.
