Howdy, I've got a skill TS-6703-00 table saw that I like a lot but It's a real pain to remove the riving knife to use my dado blades. The knife is easily adjustable, flip the lock lever up, slide the knife up or down, re-lock it. Nice and easy BUT… you can't remove the riving knife completely. The (alignment slot?) that runs up and down the center of the blade is not open on the bottom like some removable riving knives I've seen so, to solve this problem I was wondering if I could simply cut the slot open on the bottom and be done with it? I don't think it would affect the function of the riving knife at all, just make it removable. What do you think?

I would slot the bottom of the riving knife as you've suggested. Any lumber contact violent enough to damage it without the bottom being intact would have caused some other damage somewhere else anyway.
