I post most of my projects in the normal forums and never have any problems with the pictures. I tried to post some into my projects folder and it wants to turn my pictures sideways. I'll just continue posting the way I normally do. :-(

Most of the problems seem to be posting from your phone…seems like iPhones have the most trouble.

If you could tell us what you take pictures with and post them it would help.

I take most of my pictures with a Galaxy S7, send them to my computer (Win7) , crop and adjust and finally post them. When I adjust them it usually is exposure and resize them to a reasonable size.

Question: Why is my picture loading sideways?

Answer: Because that's how you held your phone when you took the shot

Reason: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exif

This is a common problem when using mobile devices. EXIF data configures the information of a photo. It will take a photo upright based on where the top of your phone is when you take the picture. Unfortunately, forums don't read EXIF date properly and there is currently no plugin for it. If your photos are not loading properly, then the orientation is off and would need to adjusted in a photo editor like Paint or Photoshop. Sometimes there are apps already included in your phone.

Have you tried these steps?

If taken with a mobile device:
1. Take your photo.
2. Open the Photos App to view your photo.
3. Click "Edit" and crop it ever so slightly.
4. Save the photo.
5. Post the photo to LumberJocks.

This is the best solution.

Thanks Joe. Figured out the picture thing, as I said, I don't have a cell phone, I use a camera. I have pictures in 2 different locations, the ones I normally post have been resized and are smaller than the originals. The one I was trying to post is much larger in size and this site turns it sideways for some reason. The smaller version works right.

I've never had issues with pics posting differently in the forums than in projects papadan. That is odd.

Since you use a camera and desktop, RonAylor's blog post might be helpful.

I hope you get it sorted out. It's much easier for people to find your work if it's in your projects as opposed to happening to see a forum thread with it.
