I just received a 2003 Performax 16-32 Plus Drum Sander. Price was right (free). It has sat unused for the last 18 yrs. The motors run, drum spins and the belt works. Those are the good points.
Because it has sat for so long the threads to raise and lower the motor are full of grime. I used some WD40 and a rage on it and it moves but is still very hard to turn the handle.
I figure my best course is to tear the whole thing down and clean, lube and align everything.
My question is what kind of lube should I use on the threads and misc. bolts.

Thanks Gary

My point about adjusting them is they are very touchy to restore the correct tension. I was trying to lessen some slop on my 16/32 and found they go from too tight to sloppy loose with a slight fraction of a turn. Too tight and your raise/lower threads with begin to self destruct.

Great score on a useful machine for a rock bottom price however!
