I love Lumberjocks and the community it represents. I am NOT a fan of the cumbersome interface. Compared to other social media websites (like facebook) Lumberjocks is a dinosaur. Just dealing with photos and videos is unnecessarily difficult. I shouldn't have to upload a separate app (like photobucket) or deal with html scripting to handle media that I want to post. I should be able to update things like "My Shop", but I can't. I think we would have a much more robust participation if the hosts of this website would bring it in line with current technology.

Sorry, but I agree that aspects of this format are not user-friendly. Many seem able to post pics, but in my experience it's not so easy. Trust me, none of you are worse for not being able to see my projects but, damnit, I've not mastered the skill in the years that I've been on. It frustrates me because in other forums I post like mad. No easy button here? S'ok, but it contributes to my inconsistent presence. You may not care, but owners who earn their money by selling ad space to our eyeballs should be thinking about comments like those from the OP. A complaint is a gift.

"fuigb", I'm curious as to what you are doing when you are trying to post pics.

One method I use is to: take the picture with my iphone, email it to my myself so it comes in on my Mac Mini, drag and drop the picture from the email onto my desktop, open the picture with Preview, save it so it holds the correct orientation when I post it, then click on the "img" button, select the picture, add it, then hit "post this reply" button.

Not sure if I could simply post a pic from the iphone. Someone else may know the answer to that.

Every picture I have posted here has come off my hard drive, or a detached drive at home. After the P Bucket debacle I swore never to use one of that type of site again. I don't Facebook, tweet or the like, but I can drop a pic in here in less than 30 seconds. "IF" I know where it is.

I came here from another well known site. They changed owners, and made a severe change of the platform, and it stinks like rotted fish. I do know people who "facebook" and tweet, and a lot of them feel that posting images there is difficult. I think attitude has a lot to do with that. If you want it to bother you, it probably will.

Thanks for reining me in Mike. I guess I am still living in the past when gas was 27 cents a gallon and bandwidth seemed endless.

I don't know… I seem to remember those 110 baud acoustic couplers being rather slow! It wasn't until we hit the 300 baud modems that things really picked up :)

Speaking of outdated web sites - I have one that was last modified April 9th, 1999
Probably should get around to updating it one of these days.

Cheers,
Brad

Re: posting pics, honstly I don't recall what all I've tried but net outcome has been only one success and that one felt like a lucky shot. I'm not lazy and I can write some code, too, but damn if this site hasn't given me fits. I know it can be done and one day I'll make the time to master it, but in the meantime I'm just a busy guy who's learned to temper my enthusiasm when I feel that there's something cool to share.

I honestly don't know how it could get any easier other than drag and drop. Click
Image
, click the "Browse" button and select the image you want, then click the "Insert this image" button to load it. I really am confused as to how so many can find that so difficult.

Cheers,
Brad

Friends, Once again I have carefully scrolled thru this entire topic and the original poster has not returned to support his position. I call B.S. on it. If your going to quit fine quit. Take your toys and go play somewhere else.
There are enough here who enjoy Lumber Jocks. We have a very enjoyable time sharing and kidding with each other. I wish you the best where ever you may end up.

I agree, learn to code and build your own website with the functionality you think it lacks Zuckerberg!

If you can't stick your thumb up your butt with both hands, then you blame the website for your incompetence. Lots of that going around these days. Now back in the good old days we had to do our communicating with a telephone that we cranked up. And we did't have 300 channels on a HD tv. Yep, they would complain if you hung them with a new rope. I just turned 70 and can remember when we didn't have electricity in our home. Life is a wee bit better now, so I am as happy as a puppy with two peckers.

So, why are you nagging this guy? He stated his position. I understand it.
