Like Papadan said you can put in a post asking for Canadian members for classes in your area..

 

Is there a way to reach out to Canadian members specifically? Or do I just post it to everyone but ask for Canadian members to respond? Thanks for replying!

 

i recently posted about a new wood supplier in my area and just stated it was of interest to only woodworkers in my area.that would be a great feature to add to this site tough,being able to target a certain area and be able to know who is close by.maybe this could be done?

 

Most woodworking classes in the U.S. are provided through the community college system. If there is a similar system in Canada, you can start looking there.

 

I would start with a more descriptive title, something like, "Looking for Woodworking Classes in Canada."

 

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Unfortunately I work full time so college isn't really an option. I have signed up at a place called the living arts center here but I am on a waiting list. I think I might put out a kijiji ad asking someone to take me on as a private pupil. We have a really good education place here but unfortunately it is a couple of hours from me so only an option for weekend classes.

In the meantime I'm watching videos and familiarizing myself with equipment and concepts. But there is nothing like the hands on training. I will put a poet out on lumberjocks asking for local assistance. Thanks again for the friendly welcome and responses.

You Tube has videos of just about anything you can dream up. That should give you a big head start on woodworking.
