It is not like anyone uses the maps on LJ to navigate or anything. Definitely a nice to have. If it is important to you, one could always just upload a screen capture in your workshop posting and/or a link to the google map I suppose. Personally, I ve always thought of the map & address as a come steal my stuff advertisement, sort of like posting vacation pictures on Facebook while you are still out of town. LOL.

Exactly. In over 10 years on this site, I have never felt like looking at a map.

If I understand what I read, Google is now charging for use of their maps on websites. The error simply means that LJ has not registered under the new model. In the scheme of things, this would seem to be pretty low on the list of things needed on the LJ website.

makes sense google is a huge company that doesnt want to give away there product for free and the owners of lj s may feel the cost isn t worth the value to members.we ll have to wait and see if this gets fixed or forgotten.thanks lazyman.

That big company is getting paid everytime you use their search engine,maps or any of their other products. They make add money and not to mention selling all your data. I use nothing google related,am never off a vpn and never off of private browsing.

You have a right to be worried Torus! Ask all of the Questions that you want to and you'll get a few DUMB Answers from the "Know It Alls" on here who THINK they have ALL The Answers. They DON'T!

In my Personal Opinion "Trouble Is Brewing" but "The Big Boys" don't think it's any Big Deal.

Notice the LACK of any kind of response from "Management" about any of this? Maybe it has something to do with $$$$$$$!

In my view it's not a big deal. It was a free but unnecessary amenity. I don't see it affecting much of anything here except that you can no longer see a red dot in Eagle River AK in my profile and I can't see your if you even included it.

As I have said many times now, we are on the list for SSL (HTTPS) but I do not yet have the ETA.
