Lumberjocks,

Pleeeease will you make the site be friendly to applle IOS devices? It's getting to the point that I'm now avoiding using it. It loads slow, screen jumps around like its having a siezure while it loads, and sometimes when it does load its missing stuff or stuff is in the wrong place.

This is the voice of part of your market slowly slipping away.

I agree. Site could use a lot of improvement on iOS. Particularly when typing responses the copy/paste function does not come pop up correctly.

Another thing that is frustrating is that buttons load slowly. Sometimes I just want to hit a button but I have to wait for a bunch of other stuff to load before the buttons will work. Sometimes when I try to click on buttons too soon it activates another link that I didn't want to click on.

It sounds as if your Apple has a worm … !

Get rid of all your cookies and clear off any icons on the screen you don't need. That may help somewhat.

If not, take it to a computer repair shop and they will charge you a lot and tell you that you need a new one.

Silly me for raising a computer related issue. I should've know it would bring out the folks who would rather bitch about the "other" brand of computer, whatever it may be. "Apple this", and "PC or Android that". Jesus, give me a break. I'm already sorry I brought it up.

You people are guest here on a free site. You are demanding THEY change to suite you. How about you change to equipment that works on this free site.

My analogy

I invite a bunch of you to my home for a free steak dinner. When you get to my home a bunch of you start complaining that you want shrimp instead of my steak. I'll let you guess what I'm going to tell you.

Everybody like to spend other peoples money but their own.

OF COURSE YOU DON'T AGREE WITH ME.

I'm not sure what it says about us that a simple request is spun as a 'demand' simply because someone else disagrees with the position. I've read the original post three times, and I see nothing of the sort. OP literally says please… As an IOS user, I would like to see a reader or some sort of optimization for it myself, but it's certainly not something I demand. I still do most of my browsing on a laptop, because my aging eyes struggle with phone screens and the site is pretty difficult to use via ios. Undoubtedly however, the future is mobile, as the percentages of small device usage increases daily. I think it would be a smart move for a site like LJ to jump on this. Community is the entire reason it exists, and more and better viewing options can only grow that community.

Read my post 3 time and you'll finally pick up that I said "you guys". I never said anything directly the OP.

FYI, I am not a guest and don't consider this site "free." Tomorrow, what if everyone who had ever written a blog deleted it, deleted their projects, stopped posting here forever, the site would close. So I am not a guest, I am a customer and participant in a community. It's our participation and contribution that make Lumberjocks.com a viable business.

Don't misunderstand, I 'get it'. LJ is a sophisticated piece of software that was designed for an earlier time and more primitive internet. It will be difficult to modernize without a complete overhaul, and somehow doing that while not losing the data that exists.

In my opinion, internet forums as we think of them are teetering on obsolescence. They are a holdover from the 80's and 90's bulletin boards and don't serve upcoming generations who will be using the internet differently than we did. In some respects I believe that LJ was remarkably forward thinking but no one can foresee everything.

Some people just can't take a joke even if it hits them in the face!

Winows xx, Android, IOS, CP/M, Linux, Unix, HP-UX, Domain OS, MS DOS, IBM DOS, GCOS, MAC OS, PS DOS, Apple, Microsoft, etc, now I have really opened a can of worms by throwing out a bunch of nonsense for a woodworking site!

It would benefit the owner(s) of Lumberjocks and its members if the site was mobile friendly, I'm glad the thread starter suggested it.

Switching from an iPhone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy 5 was one of the worst recent decisions that I have made, I should have gone with the iPhone 6.

Continuing your analogy, us members buy all the groceries and cook the meals while you (the site) do nothing but bring the plates to the table. If I wanted shrimp and you brought me steak, yeah, I'd be annoyed.

A lot of complaining about a great site. I really like it especially the projects and blogs. Of all the woodworking site I have visited this is the best. I visit the site on my Android pad with no issues. Does not work well on my Android phone…the screen is just not big enough.

Too much time complaining and not enough sawdust made.
