I have never been able to figure out how the top three are chosen, but now that I am back after my brief hiatus out of the shop, it is just really messed up.

Please explain how the ranking works or remove it. I used to be able to look at it and have a pretty good guess as to what rank a project I liked would be. Now I am clueless. There are projects getting 40,000 post in an hour and things like that.

Does anyone know whats going on?

+1 on Debbie showing a consistant and genuine interest in this community.

Debbie, I too believe it is more of an acknowledgement than action being what was lacking. Thanks for all you do. And I'm sure it is a LOT that we know nothing of.

Let me add that I think Debbie has done more for the LJ community than anyone else, period. That she shows concern about these sorts of criticisms and responds with assurances that the team does care says tons about her genuine commitment to us.

We all owe Debbie a huge dept of gratitude for her work on our behalf, and I just hope Martin is paying you well… dammit. ;-)

BTW, just figured out how one can jack up they're rating on the projects.

If you log out of your lumberjocks account, and go to your project, you can just constantly press F5 (or the refresh button in the browswer). It will register ever single refresh as a hit. It doesn't work if you are logged into your lumberjocks account.

Most software for websites can limit views based on IP address, so if multiple hits come from one ip address, it counts as 1 hit. Either the software lumberjocks uses doesn't have that feature, or it's turned off.

Go ahead, give a try, and enjoy being in the top 3!

Nah, post away whenever you are ready, Joe. I was just ranting a little. Hopefully Martin already knows what is happening and will have it fixed shortly. By the way, Rex gathered up way more votes than that for his broom rack. Take a look. He even apologized since he doesn't have a clue why.

And I bet your hand-dovetailed laminated maple and walnut dog bowl tray is meant to only hold the finest cuts of meat for the most discriminating canines! Will it include inlays?

I just did my first, albeit simple inlay on some table legs I am making. I hope to be done with that project this weekend. It's coming together REALLY well so far and I love it. That means I will manage to screw it up so bad during final assembly it will become a garage fixture to hold sand paper.

I am considering inlaying a great dane in the sides using contrasting woods through the stripes. Since the sides are laminated with mostly maple and some walnut strips, the "dog inlay" will be maple where there is walnut and walnut where there is maple. Pretty ambitious for me though.
