IMPORTANT: When Posting Your Project

Out of respect for others in the community, please adhere to our guidelines that you agree to when you click the link.

"Yes, I want to post my finished project that is made of wood. If it doesn't fit the above description (like tool gloats & upgrades, wood gloats, projects in progress etc.), either blog it or post it in an appropriate forum. Otherwise it will be removed."

As an example, the recent 2Ă—4 project (posted as a joke) was truly funny and gave me a big smile, but when it received so many comments that it reached the top 3 for the day, it meant that another "real" project did not make the list.

Yes, I realize top 3 status isn't a Nobel Peace Prize, but it is important to many and helps offer recognition for a job well done. Let's respect that.

Thank you for understanding.

Are we still talking about this?

Cricket, just a thought… many online communities and forums lock topics which are meant to be public announcements, as they are not open to debate. I'm really surprised you didn't see this coming.

Does Cricket work here? I mean is he some kind of website managment person, or just another guy with an opinion? If he is some kind of website managment person, I think it would be helpful to attach a little dowatchet at the end of his posts saying "Junior Grand Poobah of Lumberjocks Web Experience Incorporatated" or whatever. Otherwise he (or she) risks being dismissed (and even ridiculed) as a busybody.

I wondered the same thing. 279 posts in 94 days seems kind of fresh out of the basket. The site promotional signature… anybody can do that. I didn't want to say anything earlier because I didn't want to step on any toes, but now I can say Ocelot started it. :p

"Getting back to the original topic, maybe we could stick to posting Real woodworking projects instead of stuff like cutting boards and little boxes. Nyuk nyuk"
You mean like your "log" Clint?

Ocelot - Cricket works for Escalate Media. She's the Community Manager here on LJs

As Clint Searl posted "Getting back to the original topic, maybe we could stick to posting Real woodworking projects instead of stuff like cutting boards and little boxes. Nyuk nyuk"

I think he is just trying to get under our feathers but saying that as long as my little boxes are earning me an income of between $500.00 $1200.00 monthly then I don't care what it's called call it what you like :)

tefinn: So, you are saying that "cricket" is Debbie Pribele?

http://lumberjocks.com/about/team

When an employee of the company which owns the site, posts, speaking for the owners, I think it would be helpful if they would make clear who they are and provide a link in their signature to the "team" page which describes their position and role on the site.

I certainly meant no disrespect to Debbie Pribele.

Chuck and Clint.
Thanks for a good laugh.

Cricket never went to an all boys Catholic High School. She never saw what a French teacher went through.

Nor the first year for a home room teacher of grade nines.

But as an old farmer said about the stubborn mule " Ya got to hit them over the head with a 2Ă—4 to get here attention".

I never look at the top 3.

Algorythem smalgorytem. 4:20 on 4/20 that's mine numerical dance.

Well if enough people liked it to make the daily top 3 it should be delete. Enough popular stuff gets deleted the site will begin to speed back up again.

Maybe program that right into the code. Hit the top 3 and bammm…....gone!

Just to be fair, if there's gonna be a TOP 3 beauty contest, why not a daily UGLIEST? Some pretty godawful dreck shows up, and oughta be properly recognized as such. Nothing motivates like a little heartfelt rejection. A daily judge could be randomly selected from a pool of volunteers.

Cricket,

If you drive up to a school and find sombody walking around in the parking lot who says "I am the principal", you think, "well, she might be the principal or then again maybe not", but when you go into the school to the office that says "Principal", the person you find sitting there you feel fairly confident is the principal.

So far as I can see right now, you still look like that person walking in the parking lot in front of the school.

I think you need a link at the top of every page - "About Us" is the standard name on it - and it should, fairly quickly, lead to an official page about you. Then, when you post, you need a signature line in every one of your posts which contains a link to that page.

I think it would help. Just a suggestion.

Paul (and many others)--You're taking things way too seriously. LJs and its bureaucracy is not an internet destination that's indispensable to one's way of life….Or is it?

Don't worry; be happy
