General 50-260 M1 setup

I am getting ready to assemble my new General 50-260 M1 and need advice on cleaning the rust protectant from the top. I read one place that you can use 409 spray. Sounds odd to me, but I am fairly new at this. After a bit of reading I am ready to go with mineral spirits and Johnson Floor Wax. Any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Used mineral spirits to clean up my General, it worked well. Have a lot of rags handy!

I also used floor wax, a different brand, as I do on all my power tools.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up using Lestoil, with LOTS of rags. It cleaned up nicely and then, as you say, I used floor wax. My saw looked so nice after waxing that I gave some of my other tables a good cleaning and polishing. Now I am ready for the fun part!
