Full Window Video Ads Keep Appearing and Block Lumberjocks, plus Other Ad Issues

This morning, I was trying to read a few threads. While scrolling a thread, a full-page video filled the window and blocked all of Lumberjocks. This repeated on each tab. Closing the tab and reloading did not help, the video appeared almost immediately. You cannot avoid the ad, but must watch it through the end before a close box appears, which you must click to get back to Lumberjocks.

By the way, I had to watch that same Buick video five times to type this post. It pops up every 30 seconds to a minute or so. It is VERY bad.

In addition, I am still encountering other issues with ads. When ads change on the side, they frequently capture the active cursor as I am typing, and the typing stops. I must move the mouse and click the cursor to my typing spot again and again.

Ads extend invisible parts of their frames, so that they cover Lumberjocks buttons and links. You think you clicked on something for Lumberjocks, but in fact you clicked on the invisible part of the ad and it opens a new tab or pag

I understand the need for ads to fund the website, but this behavior is intolerable. I may have to resort to an ad blocker or leave.

I just deleted all cookies from Lumberjocks and "www . lumberjocks" ... no change.

That same full screen Buick video ad keeps blocking the entire Lumberjocks screen. It appeared five times while I was trying to type this. The gap was less than 10 seconds between two of the showings, no kidding.

Lumberjocks is currently unusable for me. Maybe some people prefer it that way - unusable for me.

If this happens again, can I get more information to help with the issue you are experiencing?
  • Please Provide A ScreenShot Of The Issue How To Take a Screenshot
  • What Time (Including Your Time Zone) Did This Happen?
  • Which Device & Browser Are You Using? Is Everything Fully Updated?
  • What Is Your General Location & IP Address?
  • Which URL Were You Accessing When It Happened?
  • Can You Provide The Ad Redirect Link Or URL Where It Sends You?

Screenshot attached, see below. The screenshot was taken after the ad finished. The "Grab" application took time to launch and I was not fast enough.
A video progress bar appears about halfway through the video, but it only lets you pause and play. No close icon. If you refresh the page, you may lose your typing, and Lumberjocks reappears, but then the ad covers the page within seconds.

I had to watch it multiple times just to get this response up. The video appears often, sometimes only a few seconds apart. The gap times are unpredictable.

I am pleased to report that the full window video has not appeared for at least 24 hours. I am cautiously optimistic that the problem has been resolved.

The other two ad-related problems remain:
1. Loss of active cursor while typing a post. To continue typing, you must move the mouse and click it on the typing point again. ... and again ...
2. Invisible ad frames capture mouse clicks and open unwanted ad tabs or windows. Sometimes they prevent mouse clicks from passing through to Lumberjocks, but do not otherwise react.

I have seen two full screen pop-up ad/videos appear in the past two days. They cover the entire Lumberjocks window. Sorry, I closed the first one without thinking, but captured the one from this morning:
  • Please Provide A ScreenShot Of The Issue How To Take a Screenshot
    • See below. I cropped my bookmarks from the image. They are personal and private.
  • What Time (Including Your Time Zone) Did This Happen?
    • Approximately 8:00 AM PST.
  • Which Device & Browser Are You Using? Is Everything Fully Updated?
    • macOS 10.12.6
    • Chrome Version 103.0.5060.134 (Official Build) (x86_64)
    • They are updated "fully", but they are older versions - not the latest OS.
  • What Is Your General Location & IP Address?
    • Southern California
    • The public IP address is shared with a private home network behind it. The public IP comes via DHCP from my local residental cable provider (Spectrum). I will not share it in a public forum.
  • Which URL Were You Accessing When It Happened?
  • Can You Provide The Ad Redirect Link Or URL Where It Sends You?
    • Sorry, no. The ad is gone.
Photo - Observe that the advertisement fills the entire window and covers all of the Lumberjocks webpage.
Note: I cropped out the personal bookmarks below the address bar.

As of early A.M. (EDT) no problems here yet. Tested on Firefox & Microsoft Edge. Also, nothing on WWT & Router forums.

Have you ever tried this when receiving such Ads (or difficulty with using other site functions)?
- Log out of the current viewing session, refresh the page and then log back in. This may correct the problem.

Let's see what happens over the next few days, but it is not a serious problem yet. I reported it because a solved issue has reappeared.

Yes, I have done what you suggested. I might not have reported it if that had been the simple, permanent fix.
