Do I Really Need an Expensive Kreg Bandsaw Fence?

I moved across the country several years ago and put my woodworking shop tools into storage. Recently completed a stand alone shop building and now unpacking my tools and setting up the shop. I have a 20 yr old Delta Bandsaw, and at least 15 yrs ago purchased the old FasTTrak bandsaw setup developed by Mark Duginske (and later sold to Kreg tools).
I've always developed the jigs and fixtures needed in the shop, rather than buying them (sorry Rockler, but your jigs and fixtures are waaayyy overpriced). So when I needed them, I built router tables and fences, crosscut sleds, etc-you get the idea-and they always worked well for me.

So, in unpacking all my stuff, I now find that some of the parts from the original FastTrak fence are missing! My first thought was to see if I could find a source for old parts-no luck. My second thought was to buy a Kreg Precision Bandsaw Fence-Yikes-they want $120 for them now!

Was trying to remember if I really used the old fence that much, or simply built an easy-to-use one out of MDF.

So, my question to my fellow Lumberjocks is-"Do I really need to spend money on a new Kreg fence, or simply go back to my shop built inexpensive fixtures approach and make a new one-putting the $'s saved towards a new jointer?

Do you current Kreg Bandsaw Fence owners really find them that indispensable?
Thanks for the help.

I made this one for the first bandsaw I had… it was an older craftsman….

The person the bought the saw talked me into letting it go with the saw…. It was cheap and simple to make cost some scrap lumber and a few bucks for hardware… I worked as well as any other boughten one I have had and better than some of them… I was even adjustable to compensate for drift….

I had the Delta 14" saw and thought the Kreg fence was one of the better things I had done for it. But for some folks the bandsaw is first and foremost a curve cutting machine…can't imagine the fence being useful if that's your case.

I have a Delta 14" saw that came with the Delta rack & pinion fence and it works great, albeit not that often. I also have a 20" Grizzly that is used as a sawmill and resaw, also with the factory fence that I've screwed a 13" tall fence extension to but with a 1.3tpi blade, it's not exactly for fine work.
