i have a newer delta 46 460 lathe, 12.5 inch drop. i somehow burgered up the threads so the tail stock is hard to adjust. does anyone know what size tap and die set i need to go over the threads in the quill?

Have you pulled it to see what the issue is? Could it just be buildup of crap on the threads keeping it from moving freely? And if not, you will already have it apart, so you can easily measure the diameter and TPI. In addition, if the threads are buggered up, a needle file should be able to clean them up unless they are really bad off.

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum!

If suggested cleaning doesn't help, I would take the quill to a local machine shop for restoring the damaged threads. They will also be able to give you the diameter/TPI info for future reference.
