G'morning lumberjocks…
I'm upgrading my existing G0715P TS to the Delta 36-L352. Currently I have the Incra TS-LS system with the Left side router table. I'm on the fence (no pun intended…) about transferring the system to the new saw. I love the positioner and the accuracy that it gives me, especially for joinery projects, but hate the footprint required for the positioner to allow for large rip cuts to the right of the blade. In order to transfer the system, I would have to get the Larger Saw Conversion from Taylor Design which isn't that big of a deal. The thing that I hate is losing the left side router table extension. The Delta's motor enclosure sticks out too far to use the left side router table extension and if I wanted the router to be incorporated with the saw, I'd have to go with the right side router extension. I don't want to do that as I prefer to stand in front of my work as opposed to the side as well as the fact the I wouldn't have near as much room for larger work pieces using the right side extension.
I noticed in stock photos of the Delta 36-L352, a fully assembled TS looks to have 3 holes on the attached left side extension wing. Are those threaded holes that can be used to add another cast iron extension? If so, I'm thinking I could get a cast iron router extension and add it to the left thereby clearing the motor enclosure. On the flip side, even if those are threaded holes, seems to me that an additional cast iron table attached to an already horizontally attached cast iron table extension might introduce some sagging.
Worst case scenario is moving the positioner to a stand alone router table, but I'm strapped for cash (that delta wasn't cheap!) and space at this point. Any delta unisaw owners/users out there that can confirm or deny the purpose of the 3 holes on the left side of the extension wing? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
