Deadly slow on iPad

Is it just me?
Every action seems to take 20- 30 seconds.

When I type the cursor moves a few seconds after I finish, then many seconds later the text appears.
Only a problem on my iPad, not on my laptop. Also only LJ.
Interestingly, the first things that show on a new page are the ads, then a little at a time the page fills in.

I have that problem on some sites using my desktop but it doesn't occur here. On mine, I think it has something to do with my security software. A page will come up right away but I am unable to do anything because the ads on that page are slow to load. Once they finally appear, I can continue. I know…this is no help to you. Sorry.

Slowness on the site is one of the reasons I have posted so little of late. Between not accepting images bigger than they want and not having the software infrastructure to deal with and the amount of ads that seem to succeed the reason for the site, I get very impatient…..............

Hi Paul. I don't use an I pad and my computer it as fast as ever. I did find that notices sent from LJ to AT&T mail don't go through at all, but when I switched to G mail, they work like a charm.

Paul, I use an iPad 2 and I have the same problem. I can type a whole sentence and it not show up for 10 seconds. I believe it to be a function of an outdated iPad running on an old IOS. I think if I update it it will get worse. I'm thinking of getting a new iPad and giving this one to my kids.

I've been using Ad Block for some time, now. No ads. But, I do have the slow-loading issue, from time to time. Also, the delay in typed words showing up. I just chalk it up to a slow internet, slow computer, or slow me. Stupid computers. I was just telling someone today that I find it funny, in a way. She was holding her iPhone in her hand, and I pointed out that, in her hand, she possessed more computing power than it took to put men on the moon in 1969 (so, I've heard). And, how we've witnessed an evolution, of sorts, in the human psyche, wherein we're given to standing in front of the microwave, yelling, "Hurry up!" Or saying, to our computers, laptops, iPhones, and such, "Stupid computer."
God bless us, every one.

Doesn't seem to be any slower on my iPad Air 2 than it is on my desktop PC. I generally use the Chrome browser on both. There are so many ads on the site now that it sometimes takes forever for them all to finish loading but that is the same on both devices.

They also haven't fixed the annoying problem with the banner ad overlaying the zoomed pictures on projects on the iPad, though I can work around it as long as I remember to scroll the ad off the top of the screen before clicking the zoom button.

Ok, thanks for that info Paul. I was going to try my wife s iPad Air, but I guess I don t need to. Do you also have where the page reloads and says there was a problem with the page so it was reloaded?

Yes I have the reload thing but not just LJ. I think it is an iPad issue.
The above typing was a little quicker than it has been but still lags a little.

I've sent a pm to cricket over the mobile problem i have with the website. I use chrome and have tried on different phones and also wifi vs 3g and 4g. I do not have ads, but when I go load the site, I cannot do anything, whether it be scroll, or select a link until the page fully loads, and many times, the progress bar will hang on 90%ish or so for up to 30 seconds, of which time I cannot do anything. Then I am able to select a link but when I do, sometimes I'll see a link the whole page up highlight and then it goes there, not where I tapped.

It started a few months ago and has made browsing on my phone almost impossible. The delay happens not only on the front page but also every page on this site I go to.

I see no issue!
The site seems to operating normally except for missing/non-loading photos and project cards.

I am using a Samsung Galaxie S10 on WiFi and the only thing slowing me down are the adds as I haven't installed an add blocker.

I know that WiFi tends to be slower especially when there are three other users streaming movies and whatever.

On Windows 10 mobile phone (Lumia 640) which uses edge, there is a huge lag before the site becomes responsive. I suspect though haven't bothered to really look in, is that the ads are all generated from 3rd party servers and that those are massively slow. Also they seem to interfere with site navigation when on Edge in wm10 as well until whatever needs to load finally loads.

Chrome has a reputation now as being one of the most bloated browers out there. All browsers have their own quirks so I think it has to be a personal choice of what browser fits you.

We use Seamonkey browser because it seems to be faster for us with the least amount of quirks in it and just test on the other browsers.

There are 100's of things that can cause connection issues at any given time from your location.
