Yes, I woke up to about a dozen of them this morning. I blocked him. (my only block btw).

Ellen, haven't seen you in awhile. I was one of the people when some LJ's met in Lexington Mass years and years ago that Purplev organized. I was the guy who brought my wife.

I have flagged several comments and a few direct messages.

or firewalls on this pestilence that is hitting all of us. (I got mine too).
please, FLAG ONLY ONCE so the mail boxes of Admin do not get overloaded.
sometimes, they have to spend more time reading through PMs and Flag Reports
than getting rid of the offenders.
patience - Admin is well aware of the problem. so please do not flag each and every
hit you get from the spammers. unless of course they are using a different name.

so yes, Ted's invitations of 16,000 Free Plans is a PESTILENCE to us just like the Bubonic Plague.

I am getting Ted's message attached to different threads i am watching. I just deleted them because I still want to watch the topic under discussion.

 

I've had the same problem, plus "Ted" is using photos of my work and claiming it for their own. I've tried threatening legal action but no go.

Add "Woodworkines" to the list of nuisance members (if anybody started a list) It's like Old Homes Day, seeing all the old names and faces on this thread; glad to see you're all alive and kicking! Hope you all have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

 

Just remember that if you flag a spammer only do it once. And if it has been more than a couple of hours, someone else has probably already flagged them so don't bother. Flagging them multiple times just creates more work for the admins and techs to sift through their inbox.

I had to laugh at that. Stick around and hang out with us. On another thread on this topic, someone joked that maybe it was the admins trying get all you guys to come back. In a couple of cases where the spammer hit one of the old threads I was watching it was a nice reminder of something interesting that I re-read so its not all bad.

Since their method is to comment on old threads, I've been revisiting those threads and hitting the "unwatch" button.
Short of quitting the site, can't think of much else to do…?

 

Obviously the person spamming us doesn't have a clue that 99% of LJs members are aware that the 16000 plans scam, it has been around a long time and that our members know this, they are sure using a lot of time and energy posting when they will get ZERO back on their efforts,but I guess anyone trying to pedal this crap can't be too bright in the first place. They could make more money by going to work for Mc Donalds.
