Project Information
Aug. 5/09
Not that I'm addicted to making pens but I seem to have made a few for my personal use, ones that won't be given away as presents (Note: my pens are not shown in the photos - what was I thinking? These are ones I just made for upcoming birthdays).
The problem created by my personal pen collection was that I needed a place to display them so that I could have easy access to the selection. Thus, the pen stand.

Won't it look nice displayed beside the candle holder I made "so long ago"? http://lumberjocks.com/projects/307
Now I think I need a desk for them to sit on!

Wood
- barnboard "scraps" from my great-grandfather's barn
Process
- I grabbed a slab of cut-off and thought that it would work nicely
- I sanded down the cut edges
- I determined that 5 holes placed along the board would work nicely with the length of wood I had
- I drilled the five holes, just big enough for the pens to drop in up to the pen clip
- I found a second piece of cut-off and measured and cut two pieces for the legs
- I used dowels to attach the legs to the stand
- I found a third piece of cut-off and cut it to length for the base (bonus: it was an end piece)
- I used dowels to attach the base to the stand
- I waxed the cut surfaces (including inside the holes)
