Nice work AZWoody
you wasted no time getting it torn down, painted and reassembled.

Like the two color paint scheme.

Very nice find, Woody! It looks like it just came out of a Tannewitz showroom! You did a grand job in quick order. I'd love to have a larger bandsaw than my little Shopsmith but a 20" is probably all I'd ever need. Your 36" and Holbs future 42" saws are just a bit too bit for my little shop.

Is there such a thing as a nickel test for bandsaws, and if so, does yours pass that test?

Well, I've been out to Woodys several times and went this morning to see this beast. It's beautiful. Amazing really.

I decided to remove one of his old bandsaws while I was there. And like 22 slabs of lumber too!!

For reference, I'm 6' tall.

Thanks a lot. It does pass the nickel test but I have to do it a little differently. I actually have to put my hand in front of the nickel and the blade. There is so much turbulence from the blade it blows the nickel over no matter where I put it on the table. Even if I put the nickel with the edge facing the blade, it gets spun sideways and then over.

If I can block the wind, it will stand. This was actually designed to use the air to force the dust out of the dust port in the front. With it running, you feel a very strong current coming right out of the port. Also, when trying this before I have even hooked up anything to the collector, I have no dust sitting on top of the table. None of my other bandsaws were like that even when hooked up to the dust collector. I always had pieces of dust and some fine shavings here and there on the table.

Wait. There s going to be dust with the bandsaw I took? I might have to return and exchange it for the bigger one.

Haha, ok, ask your wife about that ;)

I was just about to reply to your post and tell you it was great having both of you over.
That's a great photo to show just how big that thing is.

It was a great visit as usual. Too bad you're so far away. Thanks for having us, for lunch, and for the bandsaw. The slabs will be a treat for someone once they sell.

Travis, although woody has mesquite, none of that is mesquite. This is eucalyptus, cottonwood, salt cedar, citrus, and even some pine slabs. 22 in total. I grabbed them from him to actually resell these things. Woody lives about 2.5 hours from the Phoenix area so I brought some to sell since these unique species aren't readily available at the lumber yards. So unless you mill it yourself, not many sources.
