Planer not feeding - 7 replies

I have a Dewalt 735 planer that I used the first time a week ago and put about two dozen boards (1×6x6) through it. Today I tried to use the planer and it won’t feed any boards. I’m puzzled as to what is causing the planer not to work. What should I be looking for to get the planer working?

I have a piece of acrylic, 0.093 thickness) and was planning to use the acrylic sheet for a template. Has anyone cut a sheet of acrylic on their table saw? I have a Freud 10”, 50 Tooth, Thin Kerf blade on my table saw right now. What are the pros and cons of using a table saw over scoring the acrylic and snapping it? Also, on a similar ...

Hi Everyone, I’m looking to get an electric wood burning stamp so I can mark my work when finished. My question is what are you using that gives you a nice crisp result? Dust Collection Hose - 6 replies

Hi, I don’t yet have a vacuum system set-up, but was wondering if I took a 4” dust collection hose and ran it from my Dewalt DW735 planer to a large trash can, will the planer be able to push the wood chips into to the trash can without the aid of a vacuum? I know that the DW735 has a powerful blower on it, but don’t want to...

Hinges - 2 replies

I’m making a set of corn hole boards and looking for a way to keep them together when not being used. I’ve seen hinges that seperate from the “pin” that connect both base plates. One side of the base plate has a hook or claw that slips under the pin and holds the two base plate together. On the other end of the corn hole ...

Dado Cross-Cut Sled - 9 replies

I’ve used my recently built cross-cut sled for a couple of projects and wondered how I’ve gone this long without one. The ease of making my cuts with the cross-cut sled is so easy now. Working smarter, not harder is now my motto! I now would like to build another cross-cut sled, but using it for dados cuts. My question is…wh...

First Attempt at a cross-cut sled - 7 replies

I had fun and learned a lot while making my first cross-cut sled. When I used the 5th cut method I came up with an error of ( .177 ). After moving the fence I performed another 5th cut method and came up with an error of ( .008 )! I guess I can live with an error that small.

Question using 5th Cut Method - 3 replies

Hey Y’all, I’m making a cross-cut sled for my Bosch 4100 tabe saw. I tried to square up the cross-cut sled, but I’m not sure if I’m figuring the math correct using the 5th cut method. I wonder if anyone could look over my numbers and see if I’m on the right path? Here’s the measurements from my fifth cut. ...

Red Cedar Treatment - 4 replies

I have some trim that borders around my garage door. The old trim is about 30 years old and the bottom has water damage. The trim size is 1 5/8” x 8” x 6’ and had to go with a rough cut of red cedar (2” x 10” x 12’) and will rip, cut, and sand it to fit. My question is what would work best to treat the red ...

What method would work best? - 5 replies

Hi Everyone, I’m somewhat new to woodworking at the advanced beginners level and going to be making something similar to this cabinet/shelf unit. My question is what would be the best choice for the shelfs, i.e.: connecting the vertical and horizontal boards? I was thinking using the Kreg pocket jig, but not sure how they would work...

Finish over stain - 3 replies

I’m new when it comes using stains, varnish, polyurethane, etc. I’ve stained my project and am going to put a polyurethane coat over the stain. My question is…do I need to sand over the stain before I apply the polyurethane? I can see sanding if I was using a stain/polyurethane mix instead of just the stain. Thanks!

Pergola, board placement - 2 replies

Hi, I was looking at making a pergola, but I couldn’t find a standard spacing of the boards on top. If anyone has made a pergola what was the spacing you used between the top boards? Also, do you think a 2×12 would be too tall of a board to use? I wanted to get the maximum amount of shade. Thanks!
