I guess you could say woodwoorking is in my blood. My Great Grandfather came to the United States in the early 20th century and made a living as a furniture maker in Rockford, IL. I think some of those genes were passed down to me, as I've loved woodworking since I was old enough to carve at a stick with my first jack knife!

I grew up on and worked on farms - always working with my hands. Thankfully these skills have passed into the woodshop. I was very involved with woodworking during my high school years, making several projects. I had to somewhat give up the hobby during my college years, as I didn't have access to a shop for personal use and was also playing college football - which took up an unbelievable amount of time! I did however manage to find a job building custom cabinets in the offseason to help pay for school, so I was able to keep the flame alive.

Now that I recently graduated from college and am employed as a civil engineer in the wastewater field, I have more time (and money!) to spend on my woodworking hobby. I look forward to further exploring this site and taking advantage of the vast amount of knowledge available from its members! Hopefully I will be able to share some things that may benefit some others as well!

Welcome to Lumber Jocks! This is a great place to get – or give – advice about woodworking on the forums and the project posts are a wonderful source of new ideas. I look forward to seeing your projects and posts.

To get the most feedback on your projects, it’s best to only post 1 or 2 at a time. This way you will get feedback over several days and from a wide variety of members.

Please enjoy your membership.

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a few months ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
