Hallo to all my LJ friends!

I am proud to say that I have been invited to participate in an upcoming exhibition at Strydom Gallery in the city of George, South Africa. I will be exhibiting a variety of art furniture pieces as well as sculpture. This exhibition promises to surprise, so do try to attend! I know some of you are a long way from here but I have a huge barn on the farm, space for many LJ’s! Just fly in, I’ll collect you at the airport! There are some spare benches in my shop, enough tools and plenty timber, so you can even make some sawdust while you are here.

For those living on the Garden Route, be sure to get hold of the latest copy of SOUTH magazine. It contains an article entitled “The tree whisperers”. You will see a mug shot or two of me, even some of my trusty tools!

Below is an official invitation. I hope to see you there!

You are cordially invited to the opening of our annual theme exhibition,

3 – 30 April 2011

by a choice selection of our country’s artists.
Sunday, 3 April 2011 at 11h00
RSVP (acceptances only)

Sounds like fun Div, and thanks for the invitation. If I win the lotto this weekend I might just turn up at your place. I hope you will take some photo’s to post just in case I can’t make it though.

Congrats Div! Wish I had a Lear Jet- I would definately park it near the barn and stay awhile. Good luck in your most wonderful adventure! Maybe you can steal us a few pics so we can attend vicariously?

Hi my dear brother,
I’m so happy for you, and proud also.
This will be a chance to show your skills, you creativity, and to share with people who epriciate.
If I win the lott I will come also, right now I have a nasty letter from the bank on the table, so this holds my wild horses here.
Wish you all the best, and that I will winn the lottery or the God of fortune will set her smile at me,

Hey Div, I’m real proud for you. I would love to be able to take you up on that offer to camp out with you and your family. I mean it sincerely that I wish I could. I hope this exposition is very successful and many good things come of it through recognition and new clients. I’ll be looking forward to some future reports on the show.

Well done Div. I hope good comes of the exposition.
Most of my work has been accepted for the upcoming ‘Into the Fire’ exposition. Should be enlightening and hearth warming.

Congratulations on the invitation to the show, they picked the best. Thank you for the invitation, if money
were not problem, you would probably have to hire a few buses to haul all of us from the airport to your
shop and run the shop in shifts to let us all make sawdust. Can not think of anyone that deserves this
recognition more than you do. Thank you for sharing your happiness and your craftsmanship with us.

Thank you so much for all the well wishes, congratulations and words of encouragement!! At least from a financial viewpoint I need it! It is a bit of a gamble for me; loss of income from not taking on paying work so I can get some time in, 12-14 hour days in the shop, lots of money out for materials…..we keep the faith!!

Dennis, I will post some photo later, first have to get things finished….Would love it if your last words came true!
Sam, I have to keep on trying, sawdust in my blood!
Stefang, hope you win that Lotto!
Hal, I sent you a PM…
Rivergirl, your jet better have off road tyres!
Mads, my brother in the North, here’s wishing that a gremlin steals that bankletter!
Todd, yes, very exciting. A fellow woodworker and I have been working at this for a long time. We approached the gallery owner more than a year ago with the idea of a woodworking exhibition. Finally!!
Ken, keep saving for a ticket my friend. Board and lodging will be free this side!
Daltxguy, sharp with the words! My wife is still laughing…
Bluepine, you flatter me with your beautiful words…No need for the bus, I have a 10 ton farm truck that will take many LJ’s. As long as they don’t mind a fresh air ride!

I am very happy to say that the response to the furniture component of this exhibition has been so good that the gallery decided to extend the exhibition by another month untill the end of May. Furthermore, they have decided to make it an annual event! Myself and the 4 other furniture makers/designers are very excited about this!!
