I really liked my Ridgid 4424 oscillating sander for the boxes I was making. Then problem – motor burned out & since it was under warranty took to authorized service center about 40 miles away…. motor was on back order then the replacement finally came in & it was no good too. So still waiting over 3 months. Okay enough P & Ming. Just got a call, should be ready on Wednesday.
So good news is that I had time to gain additional experience with the band saw & I feel I have now at least become better with my cuts & knowledge of the saw & different blades. Guess the bad news is sanding is my least favorite things & I have a bunch of items lined up to do. Business card holders, various boxes for nieces & several for a gathering of cousins (all between 60 & 80) so I’ll tell them their box is to store dentures. Uses the cut outs from the larger boxes to make smaller ones for perhaps rings?
Looking forward to getting some done so I can post them.
A side note – 150 Anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg going on now, if you are at all interested in American history, it is a incredible place to visit.

I would hate to be without my sander for long. It is a very useful tool, especially the oscillating belt sander.

pintodeluxe – it’s been hard to keep my “focus” since I really wanted to get more finished.
whitebeast88 – timing is everything, I received a call this afternoon that it’s ready & I plan to pick it up tomorrow morning & get started on the various items. Guess it’s good that any deadlines are self imposed. I just hope my problem was a fluke & won’t happened again. I had not heard about any issues with this sander.
Thanks for the comments.
