About six weeks ago, something happened that made a light flip on in my head. It wasn’t anything earth shattering or noteworthy to most. But, for me, it reignited a long lost love in me that I really hadn’t paid much attention to for 20+ years. Simply put, I sanded a few pieces of plywood. I come from a long history of craftsmen. Part 2: The Plan

Planning and brainstroming are some of my favorite parts of any project. And everything needs to start with some sort of plan. The more effort you take to write and skectch it up equals quicker completion and less redos when the time comes to complete your project. Here is my plan for a workshop so far. Part 3: We have LIGHT!

Up to this point, the only light I had in the garage was the bulb on my garage door opener. And it shuts off after a few minutes. One of my first tasks was to get some more light. One of my neighbors gave me 2 4’ 2 bulb hanging lights. Problem was – no power in the ceiling other than the garage door – and it is constantly on. Part 4: Uncovered a Workbench

Progress on the workshop has been a bit slow, I suppose. Most of my time is spent rearranging and purging things to make more space until I can get the lofts built for storage. But, as long as something is getting done – no matter how small – I feel good about the shop. It’s kinda funny the “ah HAH!” moments you have when doing this kind of stuff.
