Precision circle drawing tool - 21 replies

I saw one of these circle drawing tools advertised, and am just wondering of anyone uses one in their shop. A practical tool to own, or a gimmicky waste of money thing that you use once, toss in a drawer, and never use again?

question about restoring hand plane - 16 replies

I inherited this plane from the guy I bought my house from. I know it isnt the best quality plane, there is some plastic on it, but I would like to be able to use it. It was probably made in Germany or Austria. Anyway, question is, the blade is in really bad shape – so, should I try to sharpen it, or just buy a new iron for the plane?...

Identify this wood, please - 23 replies

I recently bought some exotics from a supplier here in Spain, and they threw in this extra block as a xmas gift. I have no idea what it is. The photos show fresh cuts. I miss-bought these two bits and am hoping someone is interested in buying them, or perhaps doing a tool swap. I cant use them in either of my routers. 1 X 1/2” spiral upcut router bit, brand spanking new. Bought from toolstoday for approximately 75euros. 1 X 1/8” spiral upcut with the special longlife coating, also brand new...

Advice for padding on ring compartment for boxes - 29 replies

Im having some difficulty sourcing the right padding to underlay fabric for jewelry box ring compartments. I am aiming for the high-end market and so, need a quality material. So far, Ive bought cheap, crappy chinese boxes and canibalized the foam padding, but this isnt a long-term solution. I also tried cutting up a foam yoga mat, but this...
