Location: Northern MN aka, minisnowta

A jack of many many trades, master of only a few. I'm taking up wood working after doing computers for the past 20+ years. I prefer the older and used tool over the newest and most cheaply made thing. I have a real fondness for some antique items in my tool boxes; bit-braces, hand drills, and planes in particular. Flee-market finds that I hope become family heirlooms. I may have started with nothing, but my children will have some sort of legacy to build with if they wish.

In the wood shop I can be found making various wooden toys, random cabinetry, whirly gigs, birdhouses, and planter boxes.

-hardwoods. Oh so little selection around here. We tend to squabble amongst ourselves over the dead-fall in the middle of the road sometimes after a hard storm. It's pretty slim pickins!

-Enough shop space to get into building canoes. The plan is to put Core Craft back on the water and build a few wood-strip boats in the "off season." Still have a bit of groundwork to do before we get to production. (Core Craft had begun waaay back in the late 1940's and went into production by 1960, making what was then one of the very first all fiberglass-composite canoes offered to the public, with a warranty that was unmatched. For various economic reasons, they were no-longer making boats by the early 2000's. We have the molds and tooling and intend to bring the boats back for everyone to enjoy.

I love the mini baler and would love to get plans to build one. It would be perfect for my tortious.
