hello...I am a 59 year old retired bricklayer. I really really hated woodshop in school lol....anyways about 2 years ago I bought a delta Rockwell contractors saw with a beisemeyer fence at a yard sale for 100 bucks with the intention of reselling it...the owner threw in some exotic wood with it ,maybe about 30 BF, after a month in the carport my wife said use that stuff or get rid of it I want my carport back...now I am the king of my castle so I didn't pay much attention to her rantings but anyways I starting surfing the net for projects I could do,,boxes I can do boxes they look easy.........well long story short,,, I now have a router , spline jig, dado set ,bench top planer ( 1st was a Ryobi 2 blade now I got a dewalt 3 blade yay) Rockwell jointer and other assorted tools....I need a bandsaw and drill press but im afraid if I bring another tool home mumzy will follow through on her threats,,,,but as I said I am the king of my castle,,,oh and a dust collection system and a thickness sander I really need them...I recently came across 14 10 foot long church pews from the 1960s made outta maple, they are currently in my carport. with several pieces under my couch acclimating( I time the acclimating by the volume and tone of my wifes comments)anyway great hobby very calming and soothing working on wood, perhaps mumzy needs a hobby, i'll talk to her about it but I have chores to do,
,,,,,

Welcome to Lumberjocks!
I’ve heard stories where the wife of a woodworker takes an interest in pen making on the lathe. Maybe you should try that, or a scroll saw? Might get her hooked!
