« Part 1: #380 Base and #303 Standard Head Part 2 of PanaVise Restoration series no next part

Spent a little more time this week restoring the Panavise #304 Low Profile Head. Again, it was filthy and rusty with the original paint flaking off.

It dawned on me that using the previously restored base and head would be a great way to clean up the corroded screws instead of buying new ones.

Another coat of primer and two coats of paint and voila!

The advantage to this head is the lower position of the vise itself to the clamping surface. This allows to get a bit more up close and personal if you are seated and near eye level with whatever surface you have mounted the base on.

For the few dollars in paint and primer along with just my time, I have great little portable vice. Never knew I really wanted one until that dusty cardboard box was handed to me. Now, I’ll turn to it whenever I need a third hand to hold small parts or do a bit of soldering.

I guess the only thing left is finding a place for it to live in my shop. Hope you enjoyed this!

Nice work there 2BlackLabs!

The Panavise is a great little vise with a lot of accessories available.
