I like the new updated Profile Page. I can easily find all of my comments, as well as following the input and suggestions from others that I want to find more of what they have said in the past.
I can see where folks that don't have their own domain name website, could use this location as a great way to share their work like a brochure; even putting the name of their profile page on their business cards. From all the forums and groups I have used and looked at, I like this format the best. Great work Martin, I think the standard has sure been raised by your work.
Also, this format can be utilized by other hobby groups (i.e quilting, leather work, carving, jewelry, glass blowing, painting, etc.) where you can change the logo and domain name, and start another site, hopefully bringing in a family of websites and advertising so that you can actually get paid for all of the time you have spent developing this. Folks, Martin has bills to pay also.
Now, we just need to continue to invite other woodworking friends and family to the website. I sent out emails to several of my past customers inviting them to read the "Story" behind the projects they purchased in the past, as many may not have known all that was going in my mind and life at the time I worked on their project. Sort of the start of an "Anthology" which is much easier to do as I work, instead of trying to bring it all together late in my life.
For folks that have their own domain name website, they can use this lumberjocks site to develop "clickers" to their own site. I have been keeping track of where the activity on my website www.decoustudio.com has been coming from. As of early this morning, lumberjocks "clickers" have accounted for 1/3 of all the people visiting my website.
As all of us have been told, the more activity and the more locations a website is linked, the better/higher it is located by search engines. I think all of us with domain name websites can utilize this tool as a way to increase traffic. Now we just need to figure out how to turn those curious "clickers" into customers to pay for my trips to the grocery store and gas station…....I'm still thinking that through.
Thanks, let me know the thoughts of the rest of you.
