I am thinking we should restrict the membership of this woodworking forum. Only experienced woodworkers should be allowed to join or even stay. A checklist should be established that all new members must successfully complete with all subject areas checked off to the satisfaction of the existing membership. New woodworkers are a burden with their constant “what (fill in the blank) should I buy? Why did my wood twist? How do I apply stain? Does my wood really need to be square to make my project successful? Why do I need a jointer or planer? What is the…? It really gets old. Let’s ban together, clean up the current membership and restrict all new members. Kind of like an exclusive country club. Only top notch questions. In fact, why allow questions? If only the best woodworkers are on here then everyone would know everything. The only posts allowed would be those that relate only to new techniques discovered by the membership. We will be better than Mill Creek in no time. What do you think? -- This is a Troll Free zone. |

I think your idea is nothing but a bunch of damn foolishness. everyone has to start someplace I am sure that when you started you even asked what others thought were dumb questions. we are here to help others that is why I joined this site if you wish to belong to an exclusive site you have my blessing but this one is just fine the way it is. sure it has it’s quirks but what site doesn’t have them. it’s just my opinion so don’t take it personal but I also was never one to sugar coat anything. |

If you are only trying to stir up contraversy I suggest that you do it elsewhere. You have a choice in your actions, one of which is to not log on to a site that makes you so unhappy. I am 67 years old and still learning every day, much of which is from this site. I will not miss you if you decide to abandon the site. In fact I think that we should shoot all the professional woodworkers and allow the novices the opportunity to expand their expertice in the field. This secret society needs to be opened up to those who don’t know a rasp from a file and see what they might envent. That Picaso feller didn’t know anything about pictures and he made million dollar garbage. -- Still trying to master kindling making |
